Died at Kadikoi on the 11th of December 1855.
Buried in the 11th Hussar cemetery on the road between Kadikoi and Karani. (See copy of memorial inscription in the 11th Hussar file.)
Entitled to the Crimean medal with clasp for Sebastopol.
The medal roll states, "Cancelled medal sent to his father at Saltford, near Bath, on the 8th of September 1858."
Lummis and Wynn state that this man does not appear on the medal roll. However, he is shown on the medal roll for the Sebastopol clasp as No. 1744 George Smith. This number had persisted on the muster rolls for some time and was only changed at his death.
No. 1744 was actually Thomas Reader, who did not receive the clasp.
