Resigned to Private "at his own request." 1st of March 1857.
At Weedon on a Saddletree-maker course from the 30th of October — 31st of December 1857.
From Private to Corporal: 12th of October 1863.
To India aboard the "Serapia" on the 15th of October 1867, from which time he ranked as a "Saddle-tree Maker."
Invalided to Bombay (en route for England) from Rawalpindi on the 26th of January 1874, but died at Meean Meer on the 4th of March 1874. At this time he ranked as a Sergeant
Entitled to the Crimean medal with clasps for Alma, Inkerman and Sebastopol. Awarded the Long Service & Good Conduct medal on the 26th of July 1874. This was after his death.
The Returned Medal book states: "Long Service and Good Conduct medal returned to the Mint. No trace of issue."
The India Office records show him as dying of "bronchitis" at Mean Meer on the 4th of March 1874, aged 41 years, and was buried on the following day by the Revd. Brunesson, Chaplain.
