Born at Bolton.

Enlistment

Enlisted at Manchester on the 22nd of January 1855.

Age: 19.

Height: 5' 5".

Trade: Bleacher.

Service

"Absent", 3rd-6th of February 1855, and again 11th-16th of March 1855. Imprisoned 17th-23rd of March.

Joined the regiment in the Crimea on the 14th of June 1855.

Transferred to the 8th Hussars at Aldershot on the 1st of September 1857. Regimental No. 32.

Embarked for India from Cork aboard the S.S."Great Britain" on the 8th of October 1857.

From Private to Corporal: 1st of November 1859.

Discharge & pension

Discharged, "by purchase", from Meerut, India, on the 22nd of October 1861. No other details are shown.

Served 6 years 272 days.

Conduct: "good".

In possession of two Good Conduct badges.

Medals & commemorations

Entitled to the Crimean medal with clasp for Sebastopol.

Mutiny medal with clasp for Central India.

Served at Kotah and Gwalior.

Not recorded by Lummis and Wynn.
