Served in the field in Oude, East Indies, from the 4th of February — 14th of May 1858, including the siege of Lucknow, 2-16 of March 1858.
A four clasp Crimean medal (imp. naming,) to "R. Smith. 4th Light Dragoons." was offered in a Canadian medal dealer's list for May of 1977.

The Regimental "Casualty Return" for the period shows — Crimean medal of No. 90 Robert Smith. This medal was only received from the Orderly Room after the making out of the last Casualty Return and has now been forwarded to England.
