Born at Manchester.

Enlistment

Enlisted at Liverpool on the 16th of December 1854.

Age: 25.

Height: 5' 5".

Trade: Labourer.

Service

Joined the regiment in the Crimea on the 28th of April 1855.

A nominal roll of men of the regiment at the Cavalry Depot, Scutari, made out on the 9th of November 1855, shows him as being On Duty there from the 4th of

Discharge & pension

Discharged on the "Reduction of the Regiment" from Brighton on the 24th of November 1856.

Served 1 year 343 days.

Conduct: "good". Not in possession of any Good Conduct badges.

Medals & commemorations

Entitled to the Crimean medal with clasp for Sebastopol.

Lummis and Wynn state that "he did not embark for the Crimea," but his name is to be found added to the Sebastopol clasp roll, dated the 23rd of January 1907.
