1234 William Robert SUTCLIFFE — 4th Light Dragoons

Birth & early life

Born in Middlesex.

Enlistment

Enlisted at London into the 9th Lancers on the 5th of August 1844. No Regimental number was allocated as he did not join the regiment from the Depot.

Age: 18.

Height: 5' 7".

Trade: Servant.

Transferred to the 4th Light Dragoons on the 1st of August 1845.

From Private to Corporal: 7th of January 1847.

Reduced to Private by a Regimental Court-martial on the 6th of August 1848.

Wounded in action at Balaclava.

Sent to Scutari on the 26th of October 1854.

Died "in the General Hospital" at Scutari on the 25th of November 1854.

Medals & commemorations

Entitled to the Crimean medal with clasps for Alma, Balaclava and Sebastopol.
