Birth & early life

Enlistment

Enlisted at London on the 22nd of April 1854 and sent to the Cavalry Depot on the same day.

No other enlistment details apart from his trade as a labourer are shown. From Private to Corporal: 3rd of March 1855.

Joined the regiment in the Crimea on the 14th of July 1855.

At Scutari from the 21st of November — 29th of December 1855.

From Corporal to Sergeant: 18th of December 1855

Discharge & pension

Discharged on the "Reduction of the Regiment," from Dundalk on the 6th of April 1857.

Served 1 year 330 days.

Conduct: "good". Not in possession of any Good Conduct badges.

Medals & commemorations

Entitled to the Crimean medal with clasp for Sebastopol.

Lummis and Wynn state that "he did not embark for the Crimea", but his name is to be found on the Sebastopol clasp list.
