Birth & early life

Enlistment

Enlisted at London on the 23rd of January 1855.

Age: 19.

Height: 5' 6".

Trade: Farrier.

Service

Joined the regiment in the Crimea on the 14th of July 1855.

He is shown on a nominal roll of men of the regiment at the Cavalry Depot, Scutari, made out on the 9th of November 1855, as being On Duty there from the 4th of November.

Transferred to the 7th Hussars at Dundalk on the 1st of August 1857. Regimental No. 159.

Joined the Depot at Canterbury from India on the 22nd of December 1866

Discharge & pension

He was discharged as "Henry" Short from the Canterbury Depot on the 7th of June 1867.

Medals & commemorations

Entitled to the Crimean medal with clasp for Sebastopol.

Mutiny medal without clasp.

Engaged in the advance to, and occupation of Fyzabad, passage of the Coomatoe and the repulse of the enemy at Sultanpore.

Not recorded by Lummis and Wynn.
