Further information

A Crimean medal with clasps for A.B. and S. and "named" to him, was an exhibit in a trial held at Manchester in July of 1977 when two Midland medal dealers were convicted of falsifying the naming on Crimean medals.

The forged naming medal has been restored by the police to the collector originally involved, who has pledged never to dispose of it. But little credence can be attached to this however, as at least three of the forged medals (1982) are known to be in circulation.

The forged naming medal to him is now (1983) known to be in the possession of a Midlands medal dealer.
