Birth & early life

Enlistment

Enlisted at Westminster on the 2nd of December 1852.

Age: 20.

Height: 5' 8".

Trade: None shown.

Service

Embarked for the Crimea aboard the H.T. "Shooting Star" on the 25th of April 1855.

At Scutari from the 9th of January 1855 and rejoined the regiment on the 11th of May 1855.

Served with the detchment of the regiment under Lt. Colonel De Salis in the Expedition to Kertch on the 22nd of May 1855.

Embarked for India from Cork aboard the S.S. "Great Britain" on the 8th of October 1857.

From Private to Corporal: 27th of January 1860.

Transferred to the "Un-attached List" on the 21st of November 1862.

Can find no further trace to 1879.

Medals & commemorations

Entitled to the Crimean medal with clasps for Alma, Balaclava, Inkerman, and Sebastopol.

Mutiny medal with clasp for Central India.

Served at Kotah and Gwalior.

Further information

The Returned Medal book states: "Crimean, Mutiny, and Turkish medals returned to the Mint. No trace of issue."
