Birth & early life

Enlistment

Enlisted at Liverpool on the 8th of January 1855.

Age: 19.

Height: 5' 7".

Trade: None shown.

Joined the regiment in the Crimea on the 14th of July 1855.

Tried by a District Court-martial at Ismid on the 13th of February 1856 for "being drunk in camp." Found "Not Guilty."

Confined, 19th of February 1856, tried by a Regimental Court-martial on the 21st of February for "Absence and habitual drunkenness".

Given 50 lashes and sentenced to lose 1d. per day for 168 days.

"Deserted" from Dundalk on the 14th of February 1857 and rejoined the regiment on the 19th of April 1857.

Embarked for India from Cork aboard the S.S. "Great Britain" on the 8th of October 1857.

Invalided to England on the 9th of March 1863.

Died in the Royal Hospital, Netley, on the 18th of March 1863.

Medals & commemorations

Entitled to the Crimean medal with clasp for Sebastopol.

Can find no trace on the Mutiny medal roll.

Not recorded by Lummis and Wynn.

The Returned Medal book shows: "Turkish Crimean medal returned to the Mint. No trace of issue."
