Tried by a District Court-martial on the 28th of August 1855 for "habitual drunkenness and using insolent and abusive language to a superior." Given 50 lashes and awarded stoppage of 1d. per day for two months.
"Absent" and confined from the 9th of February 1856, tried by a District Court-martial on the 11th and sentenced to three months imprisonment with hard labour and to forfeit 1d. per day for two years.
Embarked for India from Cork aboard the S.S. "Great Britain" on the 8th of October 1857.
In custody of the "Civil Power" from the 1st of January - 31st of May 1865. Discharged, "with ignominy" from Brighton on the 5th of October 1867.
Conduct and character: "Bad." Not in possession of any Good Conduct badges.
Entitled to the Crimean medal with clasps for Alma, Balaclava, Inkerman, and Sebastopol.
Mutiny medal with clasp for Central India.
Served at Kotah.
He is shown as having forfeited his Turkish Crimean medal, according to the Returned Medal book, and this was sent to the Mint.
