Birth & early life

Born in Leeds, Yorkshire, c.1817

Enlistment

Enlisted at Leeds on the 27th of December 1839.

Age: 20.

Height: 5' 7".

Trade: Smith.

Service

A son, David, born to him and his wife, Sarah, was baptised "by certificate" in the Military Chapel at Hounslow Barracks on the 5th of May 1850.

Killed in action at Balaclava, 25th October 1854, having been struck by a cannon-ball.

Next of kin: Wife, Sarah Ward, living at Farsley, near Leeds, Yorkshire.

Medals

Entitled to the Crimean medal with clasps for Alma, Balaclava and Sebastopol.

Killed in action at Balaclava, 25th October 1854, having been struck by a cannon-ball.
