Born at Stroud, Gloucestershire.

He was possibly the son of James Watkins (son of James W. Watkins) who had married Hannah Chandler (daughter of John C. Chandler) at Stroud on the 25th of December 1828. James W(alter) Watkins had married Sarah Thomas at Stroud on the 5th of October 1807.

Enlistment

Enlisted at Hounslow on the 28th of November 1849.

Age: 18.

Height: 5' 7".

Trade: Farrier.

Service

Died "at Balaclava" on the 7th of November 1854.

Next of kin: Wife (name not shown), living in Stroud.
