Enlistment

Enlisted at Manchester on the 1st of May 1854.

No other enlistment details are shown.

Service

Joined the regiment in the Crimea on the 1st of August 1855.

Tried by a Regimental Court-martial for "insubordination and insolent language to a superior" on the 12th of April 1856 and awarded 28 days' imprisonment, with hard labour.

Transferred to the 17th Lancers on the 10th of September 1857. Regimental No. 114.

Embarked for India from Cork aboard the S. S. "Great Britain" on the 8th of October 1857.

Sick at Bombay during January-February and invalided to England on the 19th of March 1862.

At Maidstone Depot from the 14th of July 1862.

Discharge & pension

Discharged "invalided," from Maidstone on the 18th of September 1862.

Medals & Commemorations

Entitled to the Crimean medal with clasp for Sebastopol and the Turkish medal.

Mutiny medal without clasp.

Served in the field with Captain William Gordon.

Not recorded by Lummis and Wynn.
