Birth & early life

Born at Brighton, Sussex.

Enlistment

Enlisted at Liverpool on the 25th of January 1854.

Age: 24.

Height: 5' 7".

Trade: Labourer.

Service

Joined the regiment in the Crimea from Cork on the 16th of July 1855.

Embarked for India from Cork aboard the S.S. Great Britain on the 8th of October 1857.

The musters for July - September 1858 show him as being "On Field Service" during the September period.

Served in action against the rebels at Zeerapore on the 29th of December 1858 and at Baroda on the 1st of January 1859.

Confined, 28th - 30th December 1865. Imprisoned 30th December 1865 - 1st February 1866.

Confined 30th of January - 3rd of February 1867. In the Prison Hospital, 4-28 of February 1867.

In a Military Prison, 2nd - 10th March 1867.

Discharge & pension

Discharged, "time expired", from Shorncliffe on the 8th of November 1867.

To live in London after discharge.

Medals & commemorations

Entitled to the Crimean medal with clasp for Sebastopol, and the Turkish medal

Mutiny medal without clasp.

Life after service
