Birth & early life

Born in Holywell [Flint].

Enlistment

Enlisted at Liverpool on the 11th of December 1854,

Age: 18

Height: 5' 6'.

Trade: Bricklayer.

Service

Embarked for the Crimea on the 4th of September 1855 and arrived in the Crimea at Balaclava as part of a draft of 50 men under the command of Lt. Robert MacNeill, on the 29th of September 1855. Did not serve in Eupatoria.

Deserted from Cahir on the 22nd of September 1856.

Can find no further trace to March of 1867.

Medals

Entitled to Crimean medal without clasp and the Turkish Medal.

The 1881 Census shows a man of this name, aged 46, a "Brazier", born Holywell, Flint. His wife Emma is also shown, along with four children aged between 17 and 10 years.
