Birth & early life

Born at Stapleton [presumably Winterbourne Steepleton], Dorset, c.1834.

1841 Census

Winterborne Steepleton, Dorset.

Charles Diment [sic], aged 7 years, was one of seven children (aged 5 months to 15 years) born to George Diment, an Agricultural Labourer, and his wife Martha.

1851 Census

Winterborne Steepleton.

Charles Diment, 17, nephew, a Cowkeeping Boy, was living next door to his parents and family.

Enlistment

Enlisted at Liverpool on the 17th of November 1854.

Age: 20.

Height: 5' 6".

Trade: None shown.

Service

Joined the regiment in the Crimea on the 1st of August 1855.

Died "in the Regimental Hospital" on the 8th of August 1855.

Medals

Entitled to the Crimean medal with clasp for Sebastopol.

Not recorded by Lummis and Wynn.

Death & burial

Died "in the Regimental Hospital" on the 8th of August 1855.
