Enlisted at Atherstone on the 23rd of May 1846.

Age: 20.

Height: 5' 7".

Trade: Nail-maker.

Service

1851 Census

Ipswich St Matthew Cavalry Barracks.

John Masser, 27, Private 11th Hussars, born Atherstone.

Balaclava period muster roll states, "At the Veterinary Depot".

Died at Kadikoi on the 14th of March 1856.

Next of kin: Wife, Bridget Masser, living at Atherstone.

Medals

Entitled to the Crimean medal with clasps for Inkerman and Sebastopol.

Lummis and Wynn state that "his name does not appear on the medal rolls", but he is to be found on the rolls for both Inkerman and Sebastopol.
