Born at Kilcool, Co. Down, c.1834.

Enlistment

Enlisted at Dublin on the 24th of October 1854.

Age: 20.

Height: 5' 6".

Trade: Servant.

Appearance: Fresh complexion. Blue eyes. Fair hair.

Service

Joined the regiment in the Crimea on the 25th of May 1855.

From Private to Corporal: 3rd of August 1855.

Tried by a Regimental Court-martial and reduced to Private on the 23rd of August 1862.

Re-engaged for 12 years further service at Colchester on the 9th of July 1866.

Discharge & pension

Discharged from Canterbury on the 30th of October 1875 as "Free to pension, after 21 years service."

Served 21 years 6 days.

In Turkey and the Crimea: 1 year 11 days

In India: 8 years 273 days,

Conduct: "very good". Four times entered in the Regimental Defaulters' book. Once tried by Court-martial.

Aged 41 years on discharge.
