Birth & early life

Born at Liverpool, c.1836.

Enlistment

Enlisted at Liverpool on the 14th of December 1854.

Age: 18.

Height: 5' 5".

Trade: Smith.

Appearance: Fair complexion. Blue eyes. Brown hair.

Service

Joined the regiment in the Crimea on the 25th of May 1855.

Transferred to the 1st Bn. of the Military Train on the 31st of October 1856. Regimental No. 650.

Transferred to the 4th Bn. on the 1st of March 1857, 7th Bn. on the 1st of January 1859 and to the 4th Bn. on the 1st of January 1860.

"Deserted" from Aldershot on the 4th of February 1860.

Rejoined the regiment on the 10th of January 1864 and was tried by a Regimental Court-martial on the 13th of January 1864 and sentenced to be "discharged with ignominy and to forfeit all previous service to the date of his Court-martial."

Conduct and character: "Bad". Not in possession of any Good Conduct badges.

Medals

Entitled to the Crimean medal with clasp for Sebastopol, and the Turkish medal.

Lummis and Wynn state that he "Died in 1855."
