Enlistment

Enlisted at Coventry on the 24th of February 1849.

Age: 18.

Height: 5' 8".

Trade: None shown.

Service

Embarked for India from Cork aboard the S.S."Great Britain" on the 8th of October 1858.

He was at some time servant to Captain Drury Lowe.

From Private to Corporal, 26th of January 1858.

The musters for July-September 1858 show him as being "On Field Service" from September of the period.

Corporal to Sergeant 10th of November 1859.

On passage to England from India on the 10th of February 1861 and at the Maidstone Depot from the 29th of April.

Discharge & pension

Discharged, "time expired," from Maidstone on the 4th of May 1861.

Served 12 years 69 days.

Conduct: "very good." Equal to two Good Conduct badges.

Medals

Entitled to the Crimean medal with clasps for Alma, Balaclava, Inkerman, Sebastopol, and the Turkish medal.

Can find no trace on the Mutiny medal roll.
