Born in Stafford, c.1836.

Enlistment

Enlisted at Liverpool on the 17th of December 1854.

Age: 18.

Height: 5' 6".

Trade: Carrier.

Features: Fresh complexion. Hazel eyes. Lt. brown hair.

Service

Joined the regiment in the Crimea from the Brighton Depot on the 15th of August 1855.

Discharge & pension

Discharged, "invalided," from Dublin on the 27th of November 1856, as "Considered unfit for the duties of a soldier and never likely to become efficient in consequence of a weakly constitution — in no way attributable to his military service."

Served 1 year 351 days.

In Turkey and the Crimea: 8 months.

Aged 19 years 10 on discharge.

Conduct: "good".

Not in possession of any Good Conduct badges.

Awarded a pension of 6d. per day for two years.

Medals

Entitled to the Crimean medal with clasp for Sebastopol, and the Turkish medal.

Commemorations

To live in Uttoxeter after discharge, but he was living in the Salisbury district in 1860.
