Birth & early life

Born in Kerry, Ireland.

Enlisted into the 3rd Light Dragoons at London on the 14th of July 1848. Regimental No.1948.

Trade: Labourer.

No other enlistment details are shown.

Service

Embarked for India on the 15th of June and disembarked at Bombay on the 25th of September 1849.

Transferred to the 17th Lancers on the 1st of July 1853.

Tried by a Regimental Court-martial on the 17th of December 1854 for "habitual drunkenness." Given 50 lashes and awarded stoppage of pay of 1d. per day for six months

Discharge & pension

Discharged as "Worthless" from Dublin on the 7th of November 1856.

Served 8 years 106 days.

Conduct: "Bad," Not in possession of any Good Conduct badges.

Medals

Entitled to the Crimean medal with clasps for Alma, Balaclava, Inkerman, Sebastopol, and the Turkish medal.
