Born at Braceborough. Lincolnshire, c.1830 (1825?).
An Andrew Sharman, the son of William and Martha Sharman, was baptised at Braceborough on the 10th of November 1825. In spite of the apparent age difference, this may have been him — he may have given the wrong age on enlistment. Men over 24, as he would have been, were not normally accepted.
Enlisted at London on the 21st of May 1852.
Age: 21.
Height: 5' 8".
Trade: Servant.
Entitled to the Crimean medal with clasps for Alma, Balaclava, Inkerman, and Sebastopol.
Lummis and Wynn state, "Has clasp for Sebastopol only", but he was also entitled to those for Alma, Balaklava, and Inkerman. He is shown on page 5 on both the Alma and Inkerman rolls, and on the Balaclava roll. The date of his death is also shown.
Died, "in the Camp Hospital", in the Crimea on the 14th of November 1854.
Next of kin: his father, William Sharman.
