Joined the regiment in the Crimea from Brighton on the 29th of April 1855. Tried by a Regimental Court-martial on the 6th of March 1856 for "making away with his pistol." Sentenced to 20 days imprisonment with hard labour, and stoppage of pay.
Embarked for India from Cork aboard the S.S. "Great Britain" on the 8th of October 1857.
The musters for July-September 1858 show no particular service movement during the whole of the period. (Musters show name as "Sirod.")
Served in action against the rebels at Zeerapore on the 29th of December 1858 and at Baroda on the 1st of January 1859.
Discharged from Aldershot on the 27th of June 1866.
Conduct: "good".
In possession of two Good Conduct badges.
Awarded a Special Campaign Pension, no date shown on his documents, but generally these pensions were awarded around 1893 onwards.
Entitled to the Crimean medal with clasp for Sebastopol, and the Turkish medal.

[RM: A man of this name but aged 42 is shown in the 1881 Census returns as a "Potato Porter" born London, living with his family at 68 Havelock Street, London.
He further appears in the 1901 Census aged 54 (poss error?) in the same occupation, living in Walthamstow.]
