Birth & early life

Born in Hammersmith, London.

Enlistment

Enlisted at London on the 24th of May 1854.

No other enlistment details apart from his trade as a labourer are shown.

Service

Joined the regiment in the Crimea on the 25th of May 1855.

Transferred to the 8th Hussars at Hounslow on the 13th of September 1857. Regimental No. 102.

Embarked for India from Cork aboard the S.S. "Great Britain" on the 8th of October 1854.

Served at Kotah from the 22nd-30th of March 1858.

Returned to England aboard the "St. Lawrence".

Discharge & pension

Discharged, "time expired", from Aldershot on the 24th of May 1866.

Conduct: "good". In possession of one Good Conduct badge.

To live in London after discharge.

Medals

Entitled to the Crimean medal with clasp for Sebastopol, the Turkish medal, and the Mutiny medal with clasp for Central India.
