Enlisted at London on the 4th of May 1854.
No other enlistment details are shown.
Joined the regiment in the Crimea on the 1st of August 1855.
Transferred to the 17th Lancers on the 10th of September 1857. Regimental No. 105.
Embarked for India from Cork aboard the S.S."Great Britain" on the 8th of October 1857.
The musters for July-September of 1858 show him as being "On Field Service" during the whole of this period,
Served in the field at Rajghur and Mungrowlee with Captain William Gordon.
He is shown on the muster roll of the Regiment at Colchester ending the 30th of June 1865, but for the following quarter there is no entry but a pencilled note (later made in red ink) as to why his name was missing. There is no further trace of him to 1879.
Entitled to the Crimean medal with clasp for Sebastopol and the Turkish medal.
Also the Mutiny medal without clasp.
