Birth & early life

Born at Burstall, near Leeds, Yorkshire.

Enlistment

Enlisted at Liverpool on the 2nd of February 1855.

Age: 18.

Height: 5' 6".

Trade: Weaver.

Features: Fresh complexion. Hazel eyes. Fair hair.

Service

Joined the regiment in the Crimea on the 13th of August 1855.

Is shown as being at the Cavalry Depot at Scutari from the 24th of October "On 'Duty", from a nominal roll of the 9th of November 1855. From this he did not serve in Eupatoria with the regiment.

Discharge & pension

Discharged from Kilmainham on the 15th of December 1857, as "Unfit for further military service — Delicate constitution".

Served 1 year 325 days. In Turkey and the Crimea, 8 months.

Conduct," good." Not in possession of any Good Conduct badges.

Granted a pension of 6d. per day for six months, "final".

Entitled to the Crimean medal with clasp for Sebastopol and the Turkish medal.

To live at Burstall, Yorkshire after discharge.
