Enlisted at Birmingham on the 9th of December 1854.

Joined the regiment in the Crimea on the 13th of August 1855.
Tried by a Regimental Court-martial (no date shown) for "disobeying an order given by a superior" and awarded 50 lashes, the whole of which were remitted.
Entitled to the Crimean medal with clasp for Sebastopol and the Turkish medal.
