Born at Bristol.

Enlistment

Enlisted at Bristol on the 6th of January 1855.

No other enlistment details apart from his trade as a labourer are shown.

Service

Joined the regiment in the Crimea on the 15th of July 1855.

Sent money from the Crimea to his father, Samuel Hobbs.

Transferred to the 3rd Dragoon Guards on the 24th of February 1857. Regimental No.

253.

"Absent" from the 27th of July — 18th of August 1857. Sent to the Maidstone Depot on return.

"Deserted" from Maidstone on the 22nd of August 1857.

Can find no further trace to 1879.

Next of kin: Father, Samuel Hobbs. Living in Bristol.

Medals

Entitled to the Crimean medal with clasp for Sebastopol, and the Turkish medal.

Not recorded by Lummis and Wynn.
