Enlistment

Enlisted at Manchester by the 3rd L,D, for the 4th on the 31st of January 1855.

Age: 18.

Height: 5' 5".

Trade: Weaver.

Service

Joined the regiment in the Crimea with a draft landed after the 1st of June 1855.

Tried by a Regimental Court-martial on the 13th of December 1855 for "being asleep on his post." Awarded 28 days' imprisonment, with hard labour.

Discharge & pension

Discharged, "time expired", from Edinburgh on the 4th of February 1867.

Conduct and character: "good".

In possession of two Good Conduct badges.

Medals

Entitled to the Crimean medal with clasp for Sebastopol.
