1744 George HIRST / HURST — 4th Light Dragoons

Birth & early life

Born at Poole, near Otley, Yorkshire, and was baptised there on the 29th of January 1832, the son of Jabez and Elizabeth Hurst.

Enlistment

Enlisted at Leeds on the 6th of December 1854.

Age: 23.

Height: 5' 5".

Trade: Spinner.

Fair complexion. Blue eyes. Flaxen hair.

Service

Joined the regiment in the Crimea on the 14th of June 1855.

Transferred to the 1st Battalion of the Military Train on the 1st of December 1856. Regimental No. 737. Named as "Hurst" on the M.T. muster rolls.

Transferred to the 3rd Battalion on the 1st of April 1857.

Transferred to the 6th Battalion on the 16th of March 1865.

Discharge & pension

Discharged, "time expired", from Dublin on the 5th of December 1867.

Medals

Entitled to the Crimean medal with clasp for Sebastopol.
