Birth & early life

Born at Hounslow, Middlesex.

Enlistment

Enlisted at Hounslow on the 2nd of May 1854.

Age: 18.

Height: 5' 9.

Trade: Brick-kiln worker.

"Deserted" from Brighton on the 6th of July 1854 and rejoined on the 5th of December 1854.

Tried by a District Court-martial and confined in a Military Prison from the 15th of December 1854 — 12th of February 1855.

Joined the regiment in the Crimea on the 28th of April 1855.

Selected for "Free discharge" and was discharged from Brighton on the "Reduction of the Regiment" on the 23rd of April 1856.

Served 1 year 338 days.

Conduct and character: "Bad". Not in possession of any Good Conduct badges.

Medals

Entitled to the Crimean medal with clasp for Sebastopol.

Is recorded by Lummis and Wynn as "Joseph" and as "Not having served in the Crimea."
