Birth & early life

Born at Dover, Kent, c.1837, and baptised in the church of St. Mary the Virgin at Dover on the 23rd of November 1837, the son of William and Mary Ann Hunt.

Enlistment

Enlisted at Maidstone on the 12th of January 1855.

Age: 18.

Height: 5' 8".

Trade: Groom.

Service

Joined the regiment in the Crimea on the 25th of May 1855.

Discharge & pension

Discharged, "by purchase", from Manchester on the 15th of April 1863. Payment of £25.

Served 8 years 94 days.

Conduct: "good".

In possession of one Good Conduct badge.

Medals

Entitled to the Crimean medal with clasp for Sebastopol.

Not recorded by Lummis and Wynn.
