Birth & early life

Born in the parish of St. John's, Co. Limerick, c.1832.

Enlistment

Enlisted at Castle Connel, Limerick, on the 2nd of August 1854,

Age: 22.

Height: 5' 6,

Trade: Baker.

Appearance: Fresh complexion. Hazel eyes. Brown hair.

Service

Joined the regiment in the Crimea on the 14th of July 1855.

"Confined" from the 13th of February and being tried by a District Court-martial on the 16th of February 1856 for "Being drunk on duty," Given 50 lashes and ordered to lose 1d. per day for two years.

Discharge & pension

Discharged from Dundalk on the 21st of October 1856.

"Reduction of the Army and unlikely to become efficient. General bad health — the effects of climate."

Served 2 years 78 days.

In Turkey and the Crimea: 9 months.

Conduct: "Bad." Not in possession of any Good Conduct badges.

Awarded a pension of 3d. per day for 3 months.

Medals

Entitled to the Crimean medal with clasp for Sebastopol.

Living in Limerick after discharge.

Not recorded by Lummis and Wynn.
