Birth & early life

Born in Southwark, London.

Enlistment

Enlisted at London on the 30th of September 1854.

Age: 18.

Height: 5'6".

Trade: Leather-dresser.

Joined the regiment in the Crimea on the 15th of June 1855.

Sent to Scutari on the 19th of December 1854 and to England on the 24th of March 1855.

Tried by a Regimental Court-martial on the 17th of November 1855 for "being drunk on stable fatigue."

Sentenced to 90 days' imprisonment, with hard labour.

Embarked for India from Cork aboard the S.S. "Great Britain" on the 8th of October 1857.

Discharge & pension

Discharged, "time expired", from Nottingham on the 30th of November 1866. Entitled to the Crimean medal with clasp for Sebastopol.

Mutiny medal with clasp for Central India.

Served at Kotah.

Not recorded by Lummis and Wynn.
