Birth & early life

Born c.1837.

Enlistment

Enlisted at London on the 2nd of January 1855.

Age: 18.

Height: 5' 5".

Trade: None shown.

Service

Joined the regiment in the Crimea on the 14th of July 1855.

From Private to Corporal: 17th of September 1855.

Corporal to Sergeant: 1st of October 1857.

Embarked for India from Cork aboard the S.S. "Great Britain" on the 8th of October 1857.

Reduced to Private by a Regimental Court-martial on the 2nd of September 1861.

Served at Kotah.

Died at Meerut, India, on the 16th of December 1863.

Medals

Entitled to the Crimean medal with clasp for Sebastopol.

Mutiny medal with clasp for Central India.

Not recorded by Lummis and Wynn.

Commemorations

Death & burial

The India Office records show him as dying at Meerut on the 16th of December 1863, aged 28 years. No cause of death is shown. He was buried in the Cemetery there on the 17th of December by the Revd. F. Thileman, the Roman Catholic Chaplain.
