Birth & early life

Born at Fuerty, near Roscommon, Ireland.

Enlistment

Enlisted at Longford on the 22nd of May 1850.

Age: 22.

Height: 5' 8".

Trade: Clerk.

Appearance: Fresh complexion. Grey eyes. Lt. brown hair.

Service

Transferred to the Depot of the Military Train from Cahir on the 30th of November 1856., Regimental No. 1179.

From Private to Corporal 1st of January 1857.

Transferred to the 5th Battalion on the 25th of October 1859.

Imprisoned from the 30th of May - 5th of June and reduced to Private by a Battalion Court-martial on the 6th of June 1859.

Transferred to the 7th Battalion on the 25th of October 1859.

From Private to Corporal 10th of January 1860.

Discharge & pension

Discharged from Aldershot Camp on the 30th of May 1864, "With a view to a deferred pension of 4d. per day upon reaching the age of 50 years, he having completed 14 years service."

Medals & commemorations

Entitled to the Crimean medal with clasps for Alma, Balaclava, Inkerman, Sebastopol and the Turkish medal.
